Jammu, March 09 (KNO) : Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Vice Presidents including Ghulam Nabi Monga, Haji Abdul Rasheed and Mohammad Anwar Bhat, General Secretary Usman Majeed, District Congress Committee President Baramulla, Shoaib Lone and other senior leaders from Kashmir Valley on Saturday welcomed the decision of party high command to appoint veteran Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad as head of campaign and election management committee in the state for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. In a joint statement issued to KNO, the Congress leaders while hailing the decision taken by AICC President Rahul Gandhi said it was the wish of all party leaders and activists in the state that Azad sahib should head the campaign and election management in J&K. “We whole heartedly welcome the decision and thank Rahul Gandhi. The decision will boost the Congress ranks in the state and the party will not only emerge victorious in Lok Sabha polls, but will also sweep the Assembly polls,” they said. They added Azad is one of the tallest leaders in the country. “During his less than three-year tenure as Chief Minister of the state, Azad took some revolutionary decisions to bring socio-economic transformation back on the rails in the state. People of the state yearn for such chief minister,” they said. They said that the leadership skills and dynamism of Azad needs no introduction and time is not far when there will be a Congress government in the state. “Under the dynamic leadership of Azad, Congress will emerge stronger than ever which is the need of the hour. Congress will defeat all the communal forces not only in Jammu and Kashmir, but across the country in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls,” the leaders asserted. They assured the Congress high command that they will leave no stone unturned to strengthen the party at the grass roots level. “Under the charismatic leadership of Azad sahib, all the Congress leaders and activists will work harder to strengthen the party further,” they added.(KNO)
